Fearless Legal Pioneer Vivian Simpson

In the 1920s, Vivian Simpson (1903-1987) overcame discriminatory obstacles to become the first female attorney in Montgomery County. She practiced in Rockville until her retirement in 1980. Join Peerless Rockville and the Montgomery County Law Library to learn about this remarkable woman, view an exhibit on her life, and hear remembrances of her colleagues. Old Baptist Cemetery Clean-Up

Volunteers at the 2014 clean-up.

Join Peerless Rockville, volunteers from the Montgomery County Police Department and the community as we work together to clean up the Old Baptist Cemetery on Service Day. Volunteers will pick up trash and debris, clear ivy, and provide the care needed to keep this historic property a beautiful and meaningful part of our community. 9 am-12 pm. Dress for the weather and bring gloves. This activity has been pre-approved for Student Service Learning Hours, so bring your students! (Under 12 accepted with parent.)

In Search Of Ghosts Tour

Get into the Halloween spirit at the Beall-Dawson House! Montgomery County has seen its fair share of murder, mayhem, and mysterious disappearances.

Peerless Rockville will partner with Montgomery County History for an evening of scintillating tales from beyond including the Headless Horseman, Herman Rabbit, the legend of Tommyknocker, and many more.

After the tour join us for refreshments and conversation with Karen Yaffe-Lottes and Dorothy Pugh, authors of In Search of Maryland Ghosts of Montgomery County, who will be on-site autographing books and answering questions about local lore.

Recommended for adults and children ages 12 and up.

Tours will begin at Peerless Rockville’s own historic Baptist Cemetery located at 115 West Jefferson Street in Rockville.

8:40 p.m.- SOLD OUT
9:00 p.m.

$10 for Montgomery History and Peerless Rockville members
$15 for non-members
